
Dr. Jennifer Mahan grew up in Northeastern Ohio in a small town called Chardon. She was active in 4-H (raising a grand champion pig) and racing sled dogs. She was the first person East of the Mississippi River to race and finish the Jr. Iditarod sled dog race in Alaska. She was also very active in showing Siberian Huskies at both 4-H and AKC shows. Dr. Mahan attended The Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (graduating in 2009). Her first year out of veterinary school she practiced mixed animal medicine in rural Wisconsin, working on companion animals and dairy cows. She fulfilled a dream of owning her own practice in July of 2013 when her and her husband opened Riverview Animal Hospital. Dr. Mahan’s husband, Anthony Mahan, Esq. is an attorney practicing in both Ohio and Kentucky (www.mahanlaw.com). While she is not at work Dr. Mahan enjoys hanging out with her husband and sons, playing with their dog, Watson, and cat, Kuroi.
Dr. Mahan is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), KVMA (Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association), ISDVMA (International Sled Dog Veterinary Medical Association), member and Past President of the CVMA (Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Assoication) and the AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners.)
